I am unsure of the artist. I like this work as it reminds me of work I have done in the past and because it uses a simple technique of applying marks to the base to create something I can easily identify. It was made by using squiggles and lines to form the shape of a head. Different colours were used to represent highlights and shadows. All f the colours work with each other and they match the theme of the drawing. I think it is about expressing emotion as this figure seems melancholy and sad. It is a very sad looking drawing and to me it invokes a sense of being unhappy or depressed. I think the artist wanted to portray that feeling and do so in an abstract manner with the use of unusual lines, but in saying that it is also figurative as it is obvious it is the head and shoulders of a person.

Building Images with Frances: Expect the Unexpected
This is a work by Cara Ober. I like this work as the artist has used different materials and methods to create it. It is very creative as she has used what appears to be stencilling, stamping, drawing, painting, splatting and text. I think it was made by layering different materials onto the base and adding features here and there to bring it all together. I think that it is about her world views as there is a quote in the work; "The war goes on and war is shit." I like this work because of the different materials and methods used and it is a form of putting different things together to create an artwork that I do not often come across.
I am unsure of the artist, but I like this work as it is funny and creative. It uses something we often perceive as disgusting and has transformed it to make us laugh or see it as funny. It was made by placing dead flies on plain white paper and pencil drawing, or 'doodling' around them to create a scenario or scene. I think it is about the artist wanting to take something ordinary and often not liked by us and turning it into something we may like or that we can relate to. The flies have been humanised by creating a human scenario, i.e. sunbathing on towels, therefore we can relate to this and it is amusing to us.
