I chose these 5 photos as my final photos. I chose to present them as a continuous loop slideshow projected onto the wall to tie in with the movie effect. I am happy with my final selections as I feel as though they have the film still/cinematography look about them and they are keeping in with the theme of split personality. It was difficult to get the compositions I wanted having to take the photos of myself, therefore having the camera on a tripod and a timer, but I am very pleased with the outcome and the compositions I achieved, I feel, really work.

RRaW Week 8a 15/4 Exercise 1 Basquiat
I didn't like any of the clothes worn by the characters in the film nor did any of them stand out to me. I did notice, however, that the upper class people (the people in the gallery) were wearing 'fancy', tidy and neat clothes whereas the working class (the electrician) and the lower class (Jean Michel Basquiat) were wearing plain and untidy clothes.
The clothes in the film made it look like it was set in the 1990s. It was set in New York.
I did not see anything that connects fashion in NZ to the fashion/clothing style seen in the film - maybe the dirty, shabby clothes as I have seen homeless people in NZ wearing clothes like this.
We need to wear clothes so we are not exposed. Clothes also protect our skin from getting sunburnt to some extent.

Lens with Rebecca: Colour

Looking at some images taken from Dario Argento's "Suspiria", I changed the colour of some of my photos o photoshop. I used blue and red. I don't really like the look of the colour as it doesn't really match the theme of my photos. It makes them seem more surreal than they actually are whereas I want my pictures to look more organic than this. I am going to use more normal colours as it is more realistic.

Lens with Rebecca: Overlaying my photos
I used the 2 photos above to create this photo. I put them into photo shop and placed the second photo over top of the first photo and I used the Linear Dodge (Add) filter. I then repositioned the top layer so that my face sat over top of myself in the bottom layer.
Lens with Rebecca: Horror photos
I took some photos of myself in horror makeup. The first 2 were taken in plain bright lighting.
The next 2 were taken with the light turned off in a dark room but I used an LED torch to light my face at different angles. This created different shadows which emphasised the creepiness of my face.
The next 3 were taken with the light on and the use of the torch. I also positioned my face in different ways to play with different expressions that may be seen in horror films such as the Exorcist.
The use of the torch in this photo created dark shadows underneath my eyes which I really like the look of. It gives the appearance of a 'drained' look on my face which works quite well.
The use of the torch didn't work as successfully as the previous 2 but I have changed the composition of my self and the vantage point between me and the camera. Having the camera on a tripod and not being able to see what was in the frame of the camera caused part of my face to be cut out. When I use a tripod to take pictures of myself I am going to put a mirror behind it so I can see the screen of the camera and make sure the picture is going to be taken how I want it to be taken.
In this one I tried a composition/pose seen in exorcism films like Exorcism of Emily Rose. I like the use of poses that are out of the ordinary as it heightens the intensity of the horror theme. I wore an old fashioned nighty as worn by most exorcism characters; Regan (The Exorcist), Emily (Exorcism of Emily Rose), Nell (The Last Exorcism).
Lens with Rebecca: Cinematograph/film still photos
I took photos using the cinematograph/film still look. These photos will be used to portray the 'normal' side to the split personality theme I am focusing on. I will take some more photos to show the 'abnormal/weird' side to the split personality - these will be the horror-type pictures.
I took the photos early in the morning when the light was dim and there were clouds in the sky which gave it an eerie atmosphere which is what I was aiming to achieve to tie in with the horror feel.
In this picture I am out of focus and the background is in focus so I will not be able to use this one.
These photos were taken using a tripod.
I took my photos with the intent of creating the appearance of the film still, as Cindy Sherman has done.

Lens with Rebecca: Surreal Horror Photography
I sourced these pictures of surreal horror from Pinterest. I want to experiment with some of the compositions in these pictures.
I already have 2 compositions I want to definitely include in my photos, which are these ones.
And quite possibly this one.
Lens with Rebecca: Presentation
I need to think about how I want to present my work. Jeff Wall is an artist who installs his work overtop of light boxes. This is something that could work for my installation as it would give the effect that it is being projected. Or I could project my work on the wall using the projector to give it the look and feel of a movie.
Gregory Crewdson produces work that has the cinematograph feel. His installations are huge. I need to think about the size I want my work to be.
Lens with Rebecca: Texture
I have used texture I created in photoshop with a practice photo I also created in photoshop. The texture creates a fog-like atmosphere. I would like to use fog in my photos however I need to wait for a foggy morning. If I cannot take photos in fog I will use the texture I made.
This photo was the inspiration behind the one I made above.
Lens with Rebecca: Pattern, line and texture
Pattern
This is an already existing pattern.
Pattern
This is a pattern I created.
Line (placement)
There is an invisible line created by the placement of the seats.
Line (subject)
The line in this seat is already visible in the wood used to make the seat.
Texture
There are two textures in this photo: the texture of the tree bark and the texture of the leaves.
I am intending to use texture in my final photos in the form of mist or fog. I have created a fog like texture on photoshop that I can put into my photos.
