I have done some more experiments with holding the camera but having it pointed at me. Whilst doing these experiments I thought about how I want my video to look. Instead of having a timeline and ending in an exorcism, I would instead like to make a video that is almost like a video diary - film myself for a few seconds at a time and each clip will be a step closer to a transition at the end of being 'possessed'. This way it will make more sense and it will be difficult to film the exorcism I originally intended to do if I am going to be in it - I wont be able to see what is being filmed as I wont be controlling the camera so it would be very hard to get the outcome I would like.

Moving Image: Experimenting with 'amatuer footage' - handheld
I experimented with holding the camera filming myself doing normal everyday tasks. I used my Canon. I had problems with loss of focus so I tried both auto-focus and manual-focus but I still found that the camera was not focusing the whole time.
Here is the link to my experimentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SEkbFm6qbw&feature=youtu.be
I also found that the handheld technique isn't so successful as there is far too much jogging. If I am going to use this technique I have to be very careful and make sure there is little or no jogging as it makes the film difficult to watch.

Object: People wearing paper constructions
Jolis Paons - Paper Dress
I like this piece as it is a good reuse of newspaper. Even though I know it is paper it still looks like material. To me it looks like a ballet tutu.
Shia LeBouf wearing a paper bag on his head that has "I am not famous anymore" written on it. I really like this as it is funny and it is a statement against the media and paparazzi and it is a good use of a brown paper bag.
Paper Jewellery - Begona Rentero
I really like all of the following pieces by Begona Rentero as they are all made so well, they don't look like paper at all. Every design is different and unique. They are lightweight to wear so would be very comfortable but also look really nice. I really like the floral designs, the flowers have been crafted very well.

Platos Collection - Amila Hrustic
I like these works as they are made to be seen as fashion. I like the three dimensional look of them and how it appears that when worn it would move with your body.
The one below also has the three dimensional look. I like how the square shapes aren't all just one size and how they don't all stick out the same amount.
Platos Collection - Amila Hrustic
I like the space look of this one. It also reminds me of honey comb. I like the 'business' of the formation of the shapes.
Casey Watson - White Reef Dress
I love this paper dress. It is so elegant looking and the overall design is so beautiful. It is something I would love to wear and it could easily be made out of thin material so it could actually become a wearable more than once garment. It reminds me of the ocean because of the shell like pattern, it reminds me of a mermaid tail. It is such a nice piece.
Paper Fashion Art - Chloe Book
I like these as they are very simple but look really neat. I especially like the light in the one on the right, it shows how the piece can be used for more than just an adornment - by passing the light through it it creates another piece.
Deb Mclean - Busy Being Fabulous
This is a really cool piece as i just seems like a shirt but then it has the colourful tails coming off it. It reminds me of fire, or if someone threw coloured powder. It also reminds me of the movie Priscilla Queen of the Desert, it is very drag queen like.

Moving Image: Research self portrait
I would like my video to look as if it is amateur footage, similar to The Blair Witch Project. Trailer below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D51QgOHrCj0
Also similar to the Paranormal Activity movies, therefore using tripods. Trailer below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07XbSk7Rjt4
I would like to make a story line, with a transition of myself in every day, normal life to a possessed state, then finally the possession. At this point in time I'm not sure how I want the ending to be; do I leave it as a cliff hanger or do I include an after exorcism clip, either suggesting that the exorcism worked or it did not?
For the exorcism scene I would like to use my Canon DSLR 550D as my main camera and have it on a tripod at a high angle capturing everything in the room. I would also like to have someone else in the room with a handheld video camera to give the amateur effect. I would like to use another camera stationed somewhere else in the room for a different angle and perspective.
For the 'normal - everyday' scenes I will be using my Canon and a video camera and taking shots on each and intertwining them to make my film. I will have someone follow me filming and I will do some filming myself. When I am being filmed I will get the person filming to track my movements. I will get them to do close ups of my face. The close ups will be taken while I am 'normal' and when I am 'possessed'.
I will do some experimentation with a video camera to see how the footage looks and how I can incorporate it with footage taken on my Canon.

Moving Image: Self Portrait
For my moving image self portrait project I want to continue with the split personality/Exorcist theme. My initial thoughts for my project are to film myself undergoing an exorcism. I have thought about location, I would like to shoot it at Spookers Haunted Attraction Scream Park in Kingseat (this is where I work so I will be able to use this as my location). The room I want to use is an old styled bedroom with peeling wallpaper and marks all over the walls. It reminds me of the bedroom in Exorcism of Emily Rose so it will be perfect for filming an exorcism.
I want my film to resemble something similar to famous exorcism scenes such as this one from Exorcism of Emily Rose: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxW6P-02lX0
I would like to include a priest character in it so I will need to recruit someone to fit this role. I am going to use dialogue common in Exorcism scenes, such as the readings from the bible. I will need to source props such as crucifixes and a bible. I have already thought of costumes, my costume will be an old fashioned nighty and my priest will have a black robe. I will have make up on similar to that I used in my photographs from the last project.

Moving Image: 24 shot chase sequence
For our 24 shots, we took a lot of shots that were extreme wide shots and very wide shots. We also did a lot of upstanding and headhunting. In hindsight, we should have used different camera techniques such as different compositions and different types of shots, a variation on wide and close shots.
Object: Silhouettes
These 3 images are images of silhouettes I have found that I quite like.
These 7 images are examples silhouette photography I have done.

RRaW Self Directed: Critiquing 5 Images
Cindy Sherman, Untitled #153, 1985
In this image I see a woman (I know that this woman is the artist, Cindy Sherman). She is lying on the ground. She is dirty and appears to be dead. There is green moss, stones and sticks. I think it would smell like a swamp or bog or just damp. The woman would feel wet and cold to the touch. The whole image has an eerie feel due to the lighting.
It looks like she has been drowned and her body left in water, like a swamp or bog, then pulled out. It looks like a crime scene photograph.
It makes me think of programmes such as CSI.
A possible story behind this image is that this woman was murdered, either drowned or another way and that her body was dumped in a body of water, such as a swamp. Someone has found her body and dragged it onto the land surrounding the swamp, where there is moss. Her murder is now being investigated which led to the taking of this photograph - it will be used as evidence.
The bigger issue/theme behind this image could purely be murder.
Tony Fomison, "What Shall We Tell Them?", oil on canvas, 1976
I see a large person, a small person, red ,brown, face, hats, dark colours, plain background.
It looks like a Medieval Jester, as he is wearing that style of hat. He is holding a small man wearing another unusual hat. The Jester is looking down on the small man he is holding.
It makes me think that they are having a conversation as the expression on the Jesters face suggests he is listening to the small man. I would assume it is in olden times and in a dark, sombre setting.
The story that comes to mind when I look at this work is that of Medieval/Peasant times. I feel as though the story being told is the Jester, who most likely is a servant of a Royal family, is telling someone of the lower working class secrets or stories about the Royal/wealthy family he is serving. It is almost like he is laughing behind their backs, which is ironic seeing as his job as a Jester is to make those that he serves laugh.
The bigger issues/themes behind this painting could be that of society and social categories, and how those that are more 'well-off' than others and who would often look down their noses at others may in fact be the ones that are being looked down on by those that are 'below' them in a social status.
Jerry Uelsmann, Untitled, 1989
I see hands, clouds, a naked boy, an old fashioned house, trees, black background, black and white.
It reminds me of what I imagine Heaven would look like as the house is sitting in the clouds and the boy looks like an angel. The hands make me think of a superior force, some may think God, but for those who don't believe in a God it leaves the imagination open to wander.
I wonder why the boy is standing outside the house and not going inside, the door is open but it is black inside. Perhaps he is not going in because of the blackness, perhaps something scary awaits him. I wonder why he is naked, it makes him appear more vulnerable. The clouds make the image seem like it is in a fantasy realm and the hands make it seem like this realm is encompassed by a larger being.
I think the story behind it is similar to divine occurrences, for example out of body experiences, or astral projection, which can also be the bigger theme behind the image.
Henry Moore, Two Figures Sharing the Same Green Blanket, 1940-41
I see 2 figures, a blanket, yellow, black, feet, heads, a hand, sleeping.
It reminds me of homeless people sleeping in the street. I wonder why these people are lying together, sharing a blanket. Perhaps they are homeless and have to share a blanket between them.
I think the underlying story behind it is the innocence of homeless people and that we take so many things in life for granted when we should be appreciating the small things like comfort and warmth.
Raymond Ching, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos
I see 2 cockatoos, feathers, white, yellow, black, blue background, tail, wing, crests, beaks, eyes, soft, fluffy, smooth, preening.
When I look at this image I think of my own Sulphur Crested Cokatoo, Aussie. It reminds me of the smoothness of his feathers and the noise his feathers make when he preens them with his beak (which he is doing as I write this!).
The cockatoos could be getting ready for a sleep, but a daytime sleep as the blue in the background indicates there is a blue sky.
I don't think there is a huge underlying story behind this image, just the the artist, Raymond Ching, wanted to capture the beauty of this pair of cockatoos as the preened together and how natural it looks.

Moving Image: Jogging
Jogging is when the camera is not held still - it looks like the person holding the camera is jogging. This is seen in The Blair With Project. It often makes the audience feel sick.

Volume/Mass
I think of volume and mass when I look at this as the glass is holding a volume of water and it can hold any different volume of water until it reaches its capacity.
I think of volume and mass when I look at this as the glass is holding a volume of water and it can hold any different volume of water until it reaches its capacity.
Space
I think of space when I look at this as it is nothing but it is still contained. There is a lot of space for activities.
Scale
This represents scale quite well I think, tiny kitten to large cat.
Weight
This is the first thing that came to mind when I thought about weight. It looks so heavy and I know that anvils are heavy.
Time/Movement
This is a good example of time as it is representing the different seasons of the year. It is also a good representation of movement as it shows the movement of weather throughout the year.
Site
This is a good example of site as the Statue of Liberty is a famous tourist attraction/landmark and it is common knowledge that it is in New York. It is not obscured by anything where it is so it is almost like a continuos exhibition.
Proportion/Composition/Display and lighting
This is an example of proportion and composition as the food is in stark contrast to the bleak whiteness of what is in the background so it stands out and we can see exactly where it is placed in the image.

Balance
I think this is a perfect example of balance. Not only because the elephant is balancing but also because the image is balanced out by the grey of the elephant and the grey of the sand. The composition of the elephant and the ball is balanced in the centre of the image.
Texture/Surface
This is a textured surface. The grainy texture of the surface is a texture on its own but then there is also the texture of the cracks.

Repetition
A common object that shows repetition perfectly. The repetition of a shape, even though the scale of each duck changes, the duck is still mimicked by the previous or next duck.
